She could already hear Prenn's voice booming out from inside, loud and cheerful.
Syndl joined her a few minutes later, wearing a matching feather outfit, but in pink.
"Did you hear?" she asked Drusilla excitedly. "Kerice is losing her spot for lead trapeze. One of us gets to take her place! Isn't that great, Dru?" Then her brow furrowed. "But we have to be careful. Zori really wants that spot..."
Drusilla almost laughed. "That girl? She hasn't got a chance against us!"
But Syndl looked worried. "Don't be too sure, Dru... Zori seemed pretty sure of herself. I'd watch out, if I were you."
Drusilla turned to her, her thin lips pursed. "Do you really believe that Zori can beat me? she scoffed.
Syndl started to nod, but then the two girls were pulled into the tent by an overbusy stagehand, to a loud round of applause.
