New Story: Chapter 1 (part 1)

"When Neptune is in full orbit of the moon, we will begin our search. Unless there is a change of plans, we will have four days to prepare for our launch, which, from space standards, should be more than enough." explained Prenn at the meeting the next day. Drusilla, being too young to actually make decisions with the rest of the council, sat silently and waited through the meeting.
Syndl sat beside her, her short blonde bob bouncing.
Just my luck to end up with a perfect sister! Drusilla thought miserably. Was this meeting ever going to end? I swear, if I have to listen to Syndl humming 'Cavlis Alis' any longer my head is going to explode!

"Don't worry, Dru. The meeting ends soon," whispered Veno, who was sitting on Drusilla's other side.
Drusilla jumped. She was still not completely used to Veno's telepathy; the ability to read other's minds, and sometimes it scared her knowing he could see what she was thinking about. She tried to push all thoughts of her latest mission out of her mind. The mission that was meant to be kept a secret.

"I can keep a secret," Veno smiled mischievously.
At the mention of the word 'secret' another memory popped into her head, and Veno's eyes grew wide. "Or two!" he added brightly.

Drusilla's mouth twisted.
Arrghh!
He so didn't have the right to steal her secrets!
She would get him back for this... a prank, perhaps? No, too obvious, she could try a...

"Drusilla?" Prenn's voice broke her thoughts, bringing her back to reality.
"Drusilla, are you listening to me? You already know we have a show to prepare for, now get going!"

It took a moment for her mother's words to sink in; the meeting was over. Time for the show!
Jumping to her feet, Drusilla pushed in her chair and ran out the back door, her shortcut.
Two minutes later, she arrived at the circus grounds and burst into her tent. She had to change quickly if she was going to make it to the show on time!

The costume was simple, really: a two-piece bikini-style feathered leotard and skirt with a boa and flats; all green.
The makeup was far more difficult: she had about 60 seconds to apply bronzer, green eyeshadow, blush, masquera and gold lipstain all beautifully.

Drusilla twirled around, pulling her long hair into a bun and adding her feather crown, before dashing out the door towards the Big Top Tent.
